Percussion: Weeks of March 10 - 23

It is the last week of the cycle and Spring Break is around the corner. I hope everyone is excited for our concert this week, the band trip and our break.

A huge thank you to all who helped with Jazz Fest this weekend. Everyone’s help was noticed and appreciated. A special shoutout is due for Haley and Joshua who did an excellent job leading their positions throughout the day on Saturday.

Please take note of the events and assignments that are closing out the cycle. This update will cover this week and Spring break.

Cycle 3, Week 10 (B Week) + Spring Break: March 10 - 23

• Monday

  • Pass Off 12 Due (in class)

  • Wind Ensemble rehearsal from 3:30-5:30

• Tuesday

  • Symphonic Band from 3:30-5:30

• Wednesday

  • Cycle Solos and all Pass Offs Due (in class)

  • Naaman Forest Noodle Exchange from 4:00-5:00

  • Cycle 3 Spring Concert from 7:00-8:00, student call time is 5:30pm

• Thursday

  • No Rehearsal

• Friday (B Day)

  • Pep Rally (During school, Activity Period)

  • End of Cycle 3

  • Band Trip Begins - Call time for all students is 5:00pm, Departure at 6:00pm

• Saturday, March 15 - Monday, March 17

  • Band Trip

• Saturday, March 15 - Monday, March 23

  • Spring Break (keep an eye out for Remind updates on open band hall times)

Supplies

Please make sure you bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day.

1 box of tissues per student is requested. One has observed this request, many more have used the tissues.

Concert Band Rehearsals This Week and Spring Band Concert

Wind Ensemble will rehearse on Monday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30. Symphonic Band will meet on Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. Please continue to stay aware of communications from Mr. Falls and Mr. Choi for rehearsal plans.

This week we will have our Spring Band Concert on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00pm. This will include a performance of our UIL selections and Watercolor Sun.

Upcoming Assignments and Grades

We are in the final week of Cycle 3 and we have several who will need to complete past due pass offs in order to improve their grade in band. While these pass offs have required effort from all, it has been impressive how much everyone has improved from their efforts so far. Let’s end the cycle strong by completing this cycle project and be proud of our growth!

• Pass Off 12 due Monday, March 10 - minor grade

• Cumulative Cycle 3 Pass Off Grade (all 12 pass offs must be complete) due Wednesday, March 12 - major grade

• Cycle 3 Solo Performances due week of March 10-14 - major grade

  • Students who performed at UIL Region Solo and Ensemble have already completed this assignment
