We are heading into the final week before our Thanksgiving break. We have our holiday potluck event to look forward to in addition to after school rehearsals.

Thank you all for your efforts to support our football team on Friday and positive attitude with our challenging travel schedule.

Below is the weekly overview for the upcoming week. Please note there will not be an update for the week of Nov. 24-30

Supplies

With the shift in class routines, please make sure you begin to bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day.

1 box of tissues are also requested as we transition to colder winter months.

Drumline Jersey Order - Payment in full due this week

Please make payments for jerseys this week. Pay for as much as you can when you can, at least one payment each month.

Please make payments for jersey’s through the following process:

1) Each jersey is $55.

2) Provide payments to the band boosters. Click HERE for instructions and different payment options.

3) If paying digitally, include a note that the payment is for jerseys and the student’s name. Send a screenshot with the payment confirmation to ncollins@garlandisd.net

4) Please pay for what you can as soon as you can. All jerseys should be paid in full before Friday, November 22.

As of this update, most have not provided full payment for their jersey. Please make preparations to pay in full before the Thanksgiving break.

Ranger Market Details

Ranger Market is this weekend! Saturday, November 23 from 10am-3pm. Here are details on how you will be able to participate.

Students will be given parts to popular holiday selections that are short, easy to learn, and fun to play. We will rehearse in class on Wednesday-Friday.
- Each song will have a drumset part, 1-2 marimba parts and a vibraphone part.
Students will need to fill out this sign up form for performance times. Students can perform in groups of 3-4 as long as all parts are covered.
- Choose the Commons only (so the drumset can stay in 1 place for the entire day), and no more than 2 percussion slots in a row.
- Plan to play most songs to fill the entire 10 minute slot. You may play the same set if you perform in multiple time slots.
Make sure to show up early for your performance time to ensure instruments are set up. Our last group will need to put instruments away after performance.
Plan to wear either Naaman Forest spirit wear or holiday themed attire.

Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal Details

We have music and parts to 2 of our spring percussion ensemble selections. These will be the pieces we perform in contest at the North Texas Percussion Festival in February.

Watercolor Sun by Ivan Trevino - Kathy, Rolando, Madison, Haley

Sacrificial Rite by David Gillingham - Aidan, Joshua, Fabian, Eduardo, and Malenah

There will be another 2-4 selections. All students will have parts on at least 2 ensembles.

We have 2 on-campus percussion ensemble concerts (Feb. 21 and April 25), and competitive festival performances at the North Texas Percussion Festival (Feb. 22) and North Garland Percussion Festival (April 26)

After-school rehearsals during the fall semester will be on 11/19, 12/11, and 12/18. Rehearsals in the spring will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students only need to be present for their portion of rehearsal.
