Percussion: Week of February 3 - 9

Welcome to February! This is going to be a fun month. We have solo performances, a percussion concert and festival performances. There are 2 more pep band performances and we will be in full swing with the concert band music.

We have Pass Off 5 +6 due this week and one NFPE rehearsal. This Saturday, Naaman is hosting our annual NTCA contest.

NTCA Contest

Please take a moment to review the details for the NTCA Contest. This event will require the help from the entire program. In addition to assisting for the day, please make sure to review the items expected to help offset the cost for concessions.

Supplies

Please make sure you bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day.

1 box of tissues per student is requested. No one has observed this request.

Drumline Jersey Order - Payments are past due

Please make payments for jerseys this week.

Please make payments for jersey’s through the following process:

1) Each jersey is $55.

2) Provide payments to the band boosters. Click HERE for instructions and different payment options.

3) If paying digitally, include a note that the payment is for jerseys and the student’s name. Send a screenshot with the payment confirmation to ncollins@garlandisd.net

4) Please pay for what you can as soon as you can. All jerseys should have been paid in full by Friday, November 22. Thank you to those who have met this deadline!

Concert Band Rehearsals This Week

Wind Ensemble will rehearse on Monday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30. Symphonic Band will meet on Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. Please continue to stay aware of communications from Mr. Falls and Mr. Choi for rehearsal plans.

Pep Band Performances Begin This Week!

This Tuesday will be our 2nd of 3 basketball game performances this year in a “Pep Band” format. We are planning to participate on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11. Games will start around 6pm and students will not be required to attend all games.

This week, Fabian, Joshua, and Moises are signed up to participate. It would be good to have 1 or 2 more students ready to participate for this week.

On February 11, Moises, Joshua, Kathy and Malenah are currently scheduled to perform.

The 2025 Pep Band musical selections are as follows:

• Cheer Riffs (Bad Romance, Let’s Go Band, Land of 1000, Iron Man)

• Hip Hop Stadium Blasters (Powerline, Face The Bass)

• 7 Nation Army

• Treasure

• Fight Song

We will not be reviewing these songs in class moving forward so that we can focus on our other material. Students should have their flip folder for performances. It is encouraged that students listen to these songs so you have an idea of what common drum set parts are that could be used.

Performers should wear their green Ranger Band shirt.

Upcoming Assignments and Grades

• Pass Off 5 +6 due Monday and Friday- minor grade

• Upcoming Minor Grade - Supply Check on Monday students will need a practice pad, binder, and pair of personal sticks.
