Percussion: Week of January 6 - 12

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025 and back to school. I hope all of you were able to enjoy a wonderful holiday break. We have an exciting semester ahead of us.

We will return to classes on Tuesday this week. Most after school rehearsals this month will be for percussion ensemble (NFPE) and Jazz Ensemble.

As a heads up, we will be participating in the annual MLK Parade on Saturday, January 18 and Pep Band is planning to participate at 3 basketball games in January and February.

Cycle 3, Week 1 (A Week) Jan. 6-12

- NFPE Rehearsal from 3:30-5:30
  - Sacrificial Rite from 3:30-4:30, Watercolor Sun from 4:30-5:30

  - Watercolor Sun from 3:30-4:30, Sacrificial Rite from 4:30-5:30
- Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal from 3:15-4:45
Thursday
- Wind Ensemble Rehearsal (Winds only)
Friday (A Day)
- Pep Rally (Tentative)

Supplies

Please make sure you bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day.

1 box of tissues are also requested as we transition to colder winter months.

Drumline Jersey Order - Payments are past due

Please make payments for jerseys this week.

Please make payments for jersey’s through the following process:

1) Each jersey is $55.

2) Provide payments to the band boosters. Click HERE for instructions and different payment options.

3) If paying digitally, include a note that the payment is for jerseys and the student’s name. Send a screenshot with the payment confirmation to ncollins@garlandisd.net

4) Please pay for what you can as soon as you can. All jerseys should have been paid in full by Friday, November 22. Thank you to those who have met this deadline!

Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal Details

Percussion Ensemble selections will be passed out this week during class. “Mixtape” Selections will gradually be passed out as we spend class time on our primary ensemble selections, solos and concert band music.

We will have 2 rehearsals per week in January, 1 time each week in February (Wednesdays) and will pivot to concert band rehearsals our performances at the end of February.

Pep Band Performances

We are currently planning to participate at 3 basketball games this year in a “Pep Band” format. We are planning to participate on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11. Games will start around 6pm and students will not be required to attend all games. More details will be provided this week.
